On Owls, and the Genesis of 'Walking Dog'

Just a few minutes ago, as I was sitting at midnight on the little balcony that looks to the east, dreaming of Quixote - an owl flew down from a bearby tree and swooped straight at my head.
It turned away at the last second and swept up its silent wings, flashed its white belly at me, and flew away into the night.
I juxtapose this experience with my habit of 'nailing the owl to the door' when I try to write or research. The 'owl' symbolises curiosity, intellectual curiosity, which is a compulsion I struggle with a lot. I don't recall where I read the expression, now...I'm gonna Google it. BRB 5 minutes

For the purposes of this audio file effor, this radio thing, I will particpate as narrator in the character of Walking Dog.
This narrator...it may be that I will base him partly on Joseph Konrad's Marlowe, and partly on the protagonist in Cronenberg's film, 'Naked Lunch'.
