On the Art of the Essay in InterZone

Essays...in my attempts at essay writing, I seek to emulate Montaigne.
Considered by many to be the best essayist of all time, his great innovation (unpopular in his day) was the interjection of the subjective, stories and events from M's own time...

CUT TO:

Night, a basement 'rec room' somehwere in Anglo N America. A man dressed in camoflauge sits at a key board, typing w two fingers in the dim light

ZOOM

Computer screen, text revealed - "So this is what I do, in IZ, here are the steps involved, sequentially, in writing essays in IZ: first, I do the Walking Dog Monolgue, one hour of audio derived from my utterances while waking the dog. Second, that audio is stored as a file on the komputer, and posted on the website/blog. Third, the audio is transcribed via DragonSpeak into text, which is posted below the audio file on the website. Fourth, I engage is a more or less constant edit of the text. Fifth, I record myself visually reading an 'annotated' version of the more polished text; I include anecdotes, observations, refrences - even segues!"

CUT TO:
